Join us in August for the "Singing the Faith" Worship Conference, which will provide continuing education and conversation for pastors and church musicians. Interested congregation members are also welcome.
The keynote speaker for the conference is Pastor Richard Resch, who spent most of his ministry as Director of Chapel Music at Concordia Theological Seminary and as the Kantor of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Fort Wayne, Indiana. One of his many contributions to the Church is the production of the DVD, "Singing the Faith: Living the Lutheran Musical Heritage." At the conference, Pr. Resch will explore what it means to be "singing the faith."

From the earliest days of the Reformation, Lutherans have been singing what they believe! For them this singing is a confession of their faith, and they see their singing in the Divine Service as powerful part of the proclamation of the Gospel for that day. This understanding sets Lutherans apart from the rest of Christendom. For they are giving their singing the highest role possible in their life together. And they take it very seriously!
This conference will explore how this "high view" came about, what it means for our life together, and how our hymnal can become our Prayer Book as it supports this view of confession and proclamation.
