Worship Conference

St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Topeka, KS, is hosting its eighth annual Worship Conference to provide continuing education and conversation for pastors, church musicians, and congregation members interested in the song and worship of the Church.

The keynote speaker for this year’s conference is Rev. W. Max Mons, pastor of St. Paul’s Lutheran Chapel in Iowa City, IA. In 1992 he attended Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, where he received his M. Div. and STM. Before his current call, he served as pastor at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Luzerne, IA. He currently serves as chairman for the Board of Regents for Concordia Seminary.

12:45 – 1:45 p.m. – Keynote Presentation II: “The Role of the Sermon in the Divine Service and as Intersection of Preacher, Hearer, and Musician” (Part 2) by Pastor Max Mons
2:00 – 2:50 p.m. – Breakaway B
3:00 – 4:00 p.m. – Vespers, followed by organ and brass music commemorating the 500th anniversary of the first Lutheran hymnal

Information on the breakaway sessions will be available our website by August 1. Between our keynote presentations and breakaways, all sessions are designed to pique the interest of church musicians, pastors, and lay people alike.
