Pastor Christopher E. Kellogg was born and raised in Denver, Colorado, the son of Kenneth and Virginia Kellogg, both deceased. He had one sister, Marcella Marshall (deceased) and has one brother, Carl. He started going to Trinity Lutheran Church of Denver, Colorado, when he was invited by his neighbor friend to attend VBS in the summer of 1966. He was received into God’s kingdom of grace by Holy Baptism on March 17, 1968, and was confirmed on April 7, 1968.

He is a graduate of Denver Lutheran High School and St. John’s College, Winfield, Kansas, where he met his future bride, Mary (née Brack). He received his Bachelor of Science degree in education in 1976 from Concordia Teachers College, Seward, Nebraska. He was then called to teach and be the youth minister of Redford Lutheran Church and School in Detroit, Michigan, where he served from 1976 to 1978.

Pastor Kellogg entered Concordia Seminary in St. Louis in 1978 and received his Master of Divinity degree in May of 1982. On July 18, 1982, he was ordained into the ministry of Word and Sacrament at his home church, Trinity in Denver. He was installed one week later as the pastor of Zion Lutheran Church, Big Springs, and St. John’s Lutheran Church, Brule, Nebraska, where he served until December 1986. He served St. John Lutheran Church, Alma, Kansas, from January 1987 until May 2008, Bethany Lutheran Church, Pueblo, Colorado, from September 1996 until May 2008, Our Savior Lutheran Church, Sedalia, Missouri, from 2008 until he accepted the call to Trinity Lutheran Church, Gallup, New Mexico, in July 2017, where he served until retiring on July 28, 2024. Pastor Kellogg was a circuit counselor in three of the LCMS districts in which he served for over 20 years of his ministry. He helped to organize and served as mission pastor to two congregations, one in Eskridge, Kansas (now Redeemer Lutheran Church at Lake Wabaunsee), and the other in Walsenburg, Colorado. He has also served as vice-chairman of the Rocky Mountain District Pastors’ Conference, as floor committee member to the 2007 synodical convention, and as chairman of the Rocky Mountain District Licensed Deacon Committee from 2003–2008.

On August 20, 1977, he was married to Mary Ann, daughter of Billy and Gladys Brack. She was born and raised on a farm near Great Bend, Kansas. God blessed their union with four children: Jeremy, Amanda, Joseph, and Alicia. Daughter Amanda has blessed Pastor and Mary with four grandchildren, son Jeremy with five grandsons, and daughter Alicia with one grandson.

Pastor Kellogg loves the ministry, and in his spare time he enjoys woodworking, fishing, stamp collecting, and reading mystery novels. Mary enjoys serving in whatever way she is asked, being a member of LWML, gardening, being a good friend to those around her, and being her husband’s best friend and long-suffering, devoted wife.
