"Save the Seminary" Project

At the request of LCMS President Rev. Dr. Matthew Harrison, and with the help of many Missouri Synod Lutherans, the Save the Seminary Campaign gathered more than $1.5 million as of March 2021 to support the Novosibirsk Seminary, which trains Lutheran pastors for Russia. The goal for this campaign is $7 million.

The Novosibirsk Seminary was established in 1997 at the request of Missouri Synod leaders and is now a strong, independent institution, managed and staffed by a first-class faculty of Russian pastors. Funds from the Save the Seminary campaign will be used exclusively to support the ongoing operations of the seminary. The seminary is the primary pastoral teaching school of the Siberian Evangelical Lutheran
Church, which is in full altar and pulpit fellowship with the Missouri Synod.

The International Missions fund at St. John’s supports preaching and teaching in several international locations. Funds received by St. John’s in 2022 for International Missions over and above our commitments to our missionaries will go to the Save the Seminary Campaign.
